Case Study: Rochester Hospital

When authorities issued warnings of imminent major flooding, little did anyone anticipate the extent of the ensuing devastation. Striking the rural town of Rochester situated along the Campaspe River in central Victoria, the once-in-200-year flood left its mark.

With a population just surpassing 3000, the deluge impacted every resident of Rochester, inflicting both physical and profound emotional distress upon this tightly-knit, resilient community. As the waters began to recede and residents returned to their homes, the full extent of the damage became apparent – Rochester had been devastated. Although the hospital had been evacuated early to ensure patient safety, it did not emerge unscathed. Floodwaters had inundated the entire hospital leaving it needing massive remediations works.

This video follows the remediation journey as Bay Building Services, Linx Restoration Services, EDG.Space, RMG, the VMIA and multiple trades work with the REDHS team and the key stakeholders to help rebuild the hospital and get the town of Rochester back on track.
