1975 - BAY BUILDING SERVICES IS BORN

Bay Building Services, the first of the three companies in the Bay Building Group, was established by Michael Malherbe - current Bay Building Group CEO. For ten years the company, constructed, developed and renovated property throughout Victoria’s bayside region, and was recognised as one of the most innovative property developers in the area.

1985 - BAY BUILDING SERVICES MOVES INTO INSURANCE

In 1985 Bay Building Services commenced servicing the insurance industry when Michael recognised the industry’s need for a building company like Bay Building Services – reliable, with an extensive trade base and an after-hours service. Bay Building Services continued building its client base of insurance companies and loss adjusters and in just a few years had reinstated thousands of Victorian homes and business damaged through insurable events. The company and its emergency secure team proved to be a major support for the insurance industry throughout some of the state’s major fires and storms, cementing its reputation as Melbourne’s largest and most reliable insurance builders.

1994 – BAY BUILDING SERVICES MAJOR PROJECTS DIVISION WAS DEVELOPED

In 1994; the company expanded its services to the industry by establishing a Major Projects division to conduct large-scale new developments and rebuilds of commercial and domestic property following major insurable damage. Brendan Allwood, who had been operating his own construction company for 20 years, joined the company and within six years was made General Manager, and company director. Today, the Major Projects division of Bay Building Services carries out new developments and conducts fire and storm reinstatements in excess of $10 million. The division employs site supervisors who manage up to 100 trade personnel at a time, and are supported by a team of project administrators.

2003 - LINX CONTENTS SERVICES IS ESTABLISHED

In what would prove to be a busy year for the National Restoration Group of companies, a new business Linx Contents Services (formerly Linx Restoration) was established to carry out cleaning and contents restoration works following floods, storms and fires. Linx opened at the company’s new factory and operations centre in Box Hill and is still operated today by staff and technicians who had been working with Bay Building Services for a number of years.

2004 - BAY BUILDING SERVICES OPENS IN GEELONG AND TRARLGON

In order to maintain its competitive edge, Bay Building Services expanded into regional Victoria in 2004 by establishing new operations centers in Geelong and Traralgon. The company had been servicing both regions from its Melbourne office for a number of years, and within 12 months of opening local operations centers, the size and reputation of the company’s regional operations had rapidly grown, making Bay Building Services the leading insurance builder in both local regions.

2006 – NATIONAL RESTORATION GROUP IS REGISTERED

In 2006 the National Restoration Group name was registered to bring together Bay Building Services and Linx Contents Services (Flooring Services Australia is established in 2007).

2007 – FLOORING SERVICES AUSTRALIA IS ESTABLISHED

Flooring Services Australia was established in an effort to increase control over the quality of flooring repair works it previously outsourced, and to save its clients money. Bay Building Services had recognised that most insurance repairs involved flooring works, and were dissatisfied with the price and quality of outsourced suppliers. The company is rapidly expanding as a new player in the flooring industry, and is forging a reputation as a provider of fast, cost efficient and stylish flooring.

2007 – BAY BUILDING SERVICES OPENS IN BENDIGO, VICTORIA

With our regional offices in Geelong and Traralgon gathering momentum, we open a branch in Bendigo, Victoria. This helps us reach areas such as Echuca and Shepparton.

2007 – BAY BUILDING SERVICES OPENS IN QLD

In one the biggest ventures to be undertaken by the company, Bay Building Services opened in Brisbane, Queensland - its first permanent office outside of Victoria. The move followed Bay Building Services’ move from Far North Queensland where the company had been repairing commercial and domestic property in Innisfail and the surrounding region following Cyclone Larry in 2006.

2008 – BAY BUILDING SERVICES’ VICTORIAN MAKE SAFE DIVISION IS ESTABLISHED

In 2008, Bay Building Services established an “Emergency Make Safe Division” to be on call 24 hours a day/7 days a week. With one phone call a Bay Building Services emergency make safe team can be onsite within 1 hour of notification to help ensure your customer’s property is made safe and secure from any further damage.

2009 – BAY BUILDING SERVICES OPENS GOLD COAST OFFICE

In another exciting venture, Bay Building Services opened its doors on the Gold Coast in August 2009. Having quickly built a strong reputation in Brisbane as efficient and professional insurance building specialists, they have now expanded their service capabilities being able to service from the Sunshine Coast right down to Ballina in Northern New South Wales.

2009 - BAY BUILDING SERVICES’ QLD MAKE SAFE DIVISION IS ESTABLISHED

Due to the Success of the Victorian Make Safe Division, Bay Building Services QLD established an emergency make safe division to be on call 24 hours a day/7 days a week. 2010 – BAY BUILDING GROUP IS ESTABLISHED

After four years as the National Restoration Group it has become apparent that the Bay Building name now has a much stronger presence within the insurance building industry, both in Victoria and Queensland. A unanimous decision has been made to change our umbrella company name from National Restoration Group to Bay Building Group.
